2024 Gustav Wiedeke Award Is Presented To Dunn For Customer Collaboration and Innovation

HOUSTON, TX – October 16, 2024 – Elliott Tool Technologies presented Dunn Heat Exchangers, Inc. with its 2024 Gustav Wiedeke Award at the Heat Exchanger World Americas Conference. This award recognizes Dunn’s contribution to Elliott’s product development process and underscores the importance of customer collaboration in addressing industry challenges.

Dunn Heat Exchangers, a company committed to enhancing productivity, sought a solution to reduce the time-consuming process of step rolling thicker tube sheets. “Traditional expander designs are limited in roll length due to the required feed angle,” explains John Papie, Product Design Engineer, Elliott Tool Technologies. “Air driven systems can also pose a challenge, as fluctuations in the air pressure and volume can make it more challenging to move that much material.”

In partnership with Elliott’s product development team, Dunn provided critical market insights and fabricated a tube sheet for field testing. Dunn’s willingness to collaborate allowed the team to quickly design, manufacture, and validate the new expander design in a real-world environment.

Initial results have shown great promise for the future of tube expansion. “The introduction of the Ultra Hawk has allowed us to push boundaries of tool size,” says John Papie, “Parallel pin capability combined with the electric servo motor, has shown that 3” and 4” roll lengths are possible.”
